Work out the race penalty and your FIS points for a cross-country race: winner's time, your time, the race format and the FIS points of the top five finishers. The same formula FIS uses – checked against 193 official races, exact in every one with five classified finishers.
Distance points for distance races, sprint points for sprint. Leave a box empty if that skier has no FIS points – FIS then counts 700. Find anyone's points on their athlete page.
Fill in the times and the five FIS points.
Race points = (your time ÷ winner's time − 1) × F. Penalty: take the FIS points of the top five finishers, remove the best and the worst, add the remaining three and divide by 3.50. If that is below the minimum for the level, the minimum is used; World Cup, Olympics and World Championships have a fixed penalty of 0; the maximum is 700. Your FIS points are race points plus penalty, rounded to two decimals. Source: FIS Points Rules Cross-Country, articles 1.2 and 5.3. A few races use another F-value than their format suggests (e.g. on courses with little climbing) – the official result always decides.
